After yielding five runs in the top of the fourth to fall behind 6-3, Los Gatos responded with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning and five more in the fifth inning to overwhelm Westmont 15-7 in a nonleague softball contest Thursday night.

The Wildcats had been held to five total runs in their previous two games, but the Cats collected 11 hits, including two home runs and two doubles, in the offensive explosion.

Haley Betti opened the fourth by drawing a walk, with Kylynne Cook running for her. Danica DeSantis, who earlier in the game launched a long solo home run, singled Cook to second. Kendall Feichtmeir drove home Cook with a single to right, with Feichtmeir taking second on the throw to the plate.

Alyshia LaPlante then singled home DeSantis and Feichtmeir to tie the game. Olivia Sickels reached when the shortstop could not corral her pop to shallow left, with Sickels advancing to second on the throw to third. Cate Zeman then stepped up and launched a long double to center field to score two more.

Grace Tucker followed with a long two-run home run to center field to make the score 10-6 Los Gatos.

Tucker led the offense with a double and a home run, driving in four runs. LaPlante, Lilienstein and Zeman each drove in two runs.

Ava Norquist pitched 3 and one-third innings to pick up the win in relief of starter Danica DeSantis. Norquist allowed just one run while striking out five.
