Nick Ward

Nick grew up in San Jose and graduated from Willow Glen High School in 2004 where he played basketball and baseball all four years. He was a standout on the basketball court as a three year varsity player and team captain his senior year. He was named Senior of the Year of the BVAL Santa Teresa Division, team MVP, and Mercury News Honorable Mention his senior year.

Upon graduation Nick attended West Valley College and later earned his BS from San Jose State in Business Administration with Finance Concentration. While in college, Nick began coaching youth baseball and basketball at Branham Hills Little League and Willow Glen NJB where he found his love for coaching and mentoring young athletes.

Nick was hired as the Frosh/Soph Head Coach and Varsity Assistant at Los Gatos High School in 2012. For two seasons he worked with both teams during practices and games. Nick became the Varsity Head Coach at LGHS in 2014 where he lead the team to the semi-finals of CCS in his first year. Three years later, he lead the team to their first CCS Championship in school history.

Nick stepped away from coaching after the 2018 season to spend more time with his growing family. His time away was short lived as he returned to LGHS in 2021 and picked up where he left off, winning three straight league titles and another CCS  Championship in 2024.

In his time as the Varsity Head Coach, Nick's teams have won over 150 games and have a 71% winning percentage in league play. He's led the Wildcats to three SCVAL Championships, two CCS Championships, and three CIF State Tournament appearances.

Nick and his wife Ashley have been married for 11 years and have two children, Lucas and Mackenzie. Nick spends his free time volunteering with Los Gatos NJB, Los Gatos Little League, and LGCS Fastpitch Softball.
