FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK 1935

Football, Basketball, Track. David Anderson played football at Los Gatos High School and went on to the University of California, where he was the starting fullback on the Golden Bears' team that defeated Alabama 13-0 in the 1938 Rose Bowl. Andy, or "The Swede" as he was affectionately known to teammates, played in an era before unlimited substitution came into being; consequently, starters frequently played the entire game--on offense and defense--and many became known as "60-minute men." Such was Anderson at the University of California. -Scored all Teams's Touchdowns for LGHS in Senior season (14) -4 years football at University of California, Berkeley -Last Cal player to play all 60 minutes in Rose Bowl victory over Alabama -2-Time Helms All -American -Played in East/West Shrine game -College All-Star Team -Played one year Rugby at Cal -U.S. Army Career Officer -Winner of U.S. Army Legion of Merit Award
